The second Transbaikalia International Film Festival will take place in Chita from the 7th to the 11th of September. The program comprises about 60 films including competition and out-of-competition works.

The Festival program director is Marianna Ibragimova, the general manager of the company P&I Films Distribution.

This year’s competition will include films from Europe, Russia, Near East, Australia, Canada. Parallel programs offer movies from around the world. The festival highlights will include several Russian premiers. 

The “Nights of Shorts” program will offer two films almanacs. The “Year of Germany” program consists of 5 contemporary

German movies most of which were not released in Russia. The year 2012 has been named the Year of Germany in Russia, which prompted the idea to add this retrospective to the Festival program.

The second Transbaikalia International Film Festival envisages close cooperation with orphanages in Chita. Several items on the Festival program recommended for children and teenagers will be selected for the charity event. Children will have the opportunity to watch movies and discuss them with the filmmakers. Guest film stars will meet the children and give them festival presents.

This year the festival will let the viewers not only watch good movies but also become participants and authors of the festival. Citizens and guests of Transbaikalia will participate in the script competition and the shorts competition.

At the Closing Ceremony the Jury will announce the winners in the following nominations: “Best Film”, “Best Actress”, “Best Actor”, “Best Script”, “Best Direction”, “Audience Award”, “Prize of the Governor of the Transbaikalia Region”. The main prize will also include 10 000$ for the Director of the best movie.
