XII Zabaikalsky International Film Festival will host Educational Program for Regional and International Filmmakers

As part of the XII Zabaikalsky International Film Festival in Chita, an educational program will be held for creative professionals from Transbaikalia and colleagues from China, Mongolia, and Central Asian republics (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan).

The program aims to develop the practical skills of the Transbaikal Territory’s creative community and prepare future screenwriters, directors, and cinematographers for work on regional and federal film projects.

The curriculum will focus on priority topics in the film industry, including screenwriting fundamentals, the structural stages of film production, and the development of short and feature-length films.

The educational program will be divided into two phases:

1. Online Phase – May 2025

A series of online masterclasses led by industry experts, including location managers, assistant directors, technical directors, and executive producers, will cover key aspects of domestic film production.

2. Offline Phase – June 2025

Over two days, industry professionals (including animation specialists) will conduct workshops, hands-on sessions, and project "doctoring" sessions with leading screenwriters, cinematographers, and producers. Transbaikalian filmmakers will gain a unique opportunity to analyze their work frame-by-frame with industry experts, receive detailed feedback, and craft strategies to promote their projects.

This initiative comes as the Transbaikal Territory prepares to launch its regional film commission, making the program a critical step in advancing creative competencies and fostering professional growth in the region’s film industry.

By bridging regional talent with international expertise, the festival reaffirms its role as a catalyst for cultural exchange and artistic development in Siberia and beyond.
