Meeting of the Organizing Committee of the XIII Zabaikalsky International Film Festival

On September 3, 2025, a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the XIII Zabaikalsky International Film Festival (ZMKF), chaired by Viktor Shkulev, was held to summarize the results of the past festival and plan for the future.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Transbaikal Territory, Alyona Yachmeneva; President of the International Zabaikalsky Film Festival, Alexander Mikhailov; General Director of the Film Festival, Lilia Savina; Program Director of the Film Festival, Maria Bezenkova; Chief Director of the Film Festival, Leonid Sitov; Executive Director of the "Transbaikal Compatriots" Association, Sergey Fedorov; and other members of the Organizing Committee.

Following the successful hosting of the 2025 festival, which was attended by 25 thousand viewers and over 200 guests, reached 20 districts of the region, and featured more than 50 films from 13 countries, the Organizing Committee approved the dates for the next, XIII Zabaikalsky International Film Festival. It will be held from May 21 to 24, 2026.

During the meeting, key goals and development priorities for the next year were outlined:

• Expansion of Geography and Accessibility: Plans include increasing the number of screening venues, including open-air cinemas, to make film art even more accessible to the residents of the Transbaikal Territory.
• Development of the Series Direction: ZMKF will actively engage major industry players for the presentation of new projects.
• Strengthening the International Status: One of the main tasks will be to attract a greater number of international guests and films, as well as to strengthen international ties, including with partners from China.
• Promotion of the Educational Program: The festival's successful educational line will be continued and expanded.

The meeting also discussed technical aspects of improving the quality of screenings, including enhancing content and lighting, as well as creative formats for the opening and closing ceremonies to create an even brighter and more memorable spectacle.

The Organizing Committee is confident that the set goals will not only maintain the festival's high status but also elevate it to a new level, strengthening its position as one of the key cultural events in the Far East and Siberia.
