From September 7 to 11, 2012, the Second Zabaikalsky International Film Festival took place in Chita. The general program of the festival was about 60 films, including competitive and out-of-competition shows.
The program director of the film festival was Marianna Ibragimova, general director of the film distribution company PI-Film / P & I Films Distribution. This year in the competition program of the festival there were films from Europe, Canada, Russia, Iraq. In parallel programs - cinema from all around the world. Several Russian premieres took part in the festival.
Within the framework of the "Short Nights" program, the audience saw two almanacs of short films "Magical Paris 3" and "Havana, I Love You", as well as a film winner in the Cannes Film Festival 2012 Cinefondation program - "The Road to ..." by Taisia Igoumentseva .
In the program "The Year of Germany", five modern German films were presented, giving an idea of the diversity of contemporary cinema in Germany. The idea of creating the program is connected with the announcement of 2012 as the year of Germany in Russia.
The Second ZabaikalskyInternational Film Festival closely cooperated with orphanages in the city of Chita. In the subsection of the panoramic program V SVETE "Almost Adult Cinema" several pictures for teenagers and youth were presented. Children could see good European and American cinema. Also there were meetings of invited cinema stars with children from orphanages. Children were were given presents from the film festival. Also there were creative meetings with the children of popular Russian actor Daniil Spivakovsky.
The program of the film festival in 2012 provided an opportunity for viewers not only to see good films, but also to become direct participants and creators of the festival. For residents and guests of the Trans-Baikal Territory, a contest of screenplays and a contest for the best short film was organized.
The winners of the competition - the student of the Master's Degree of the History Department of ZabGGPU Sergei Lagodin ("The Best Screenplay") and Ekaterina Terenicheva ("The Best Short Film") - she received as a gift from the partner of the Transbaikalian Film Festival, the Cinemotion Film School, a trip to Moscow to Robert McKee's seminar - , the author of the most recognized in the world of the book on scenic mastery "History in a million."
