Father James has not had such a busy week for quite a time: a confession starting with the words “I am about to kill you”, arson of the church and a fight in the bar. Being a priest and guiding the parishioners is no easy job. A sense of humour, irony and forgiveness are essential.
JOHN MICHAEL MCDONAGH
He began his directorial career in 2000 with the short drama “The Second Death”. Wrote the script for Gregor Jordan’s “Ned Kelly” (2003). In 2001 his first feature “The Guard” was released and received numerous awards becoming the most commercially successful independent Irish project. The comedy “Calvary” is the director’s second feature.
