HAYAO MIYAZAKI
Born in 1941 in Tokyo. In 1963 graduated from the Gakushuin University. One of the greatest animation directors in Japan, prizewinner of prominent international film festivals, winner of many Oscars. Author of Manga, one of the founders of the Ghibli Studio. His filmography includes “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” (1986), “Castle in the Sky” (1986), “My Neighbor Totoro” (1988), “Kiki's Delivery Service” (1989), “Porco Rosso” (1992), “Princess Mononoke” (1997), “Spirited Away” (2001, Osar, Grand Prix at the Berlin IFF and about 50 other awards), “Howl's Moving Castle” (2004, Oscar nomination, prize of the Venice IFF), “Ponyo” (2008, 2 prizes of the Venice IFF), etc. The director decided to end his career in movies with “The Wind Rises”, an Oscar nominee and winner of many awards.
