The Great Patriotic War. Winter of 1943. A young lieutenant is demoted after only two days at the frontline. He will be definitely sentenced to death. A very young investigator and an old soldier accompany him to the military tribunal. On the way they run across a medical battalion, attacked by fascists, who try to break out. To protect the wounded they have to accept a battle. Taking a chance the lieutenant escapes to keep on fighting under another’s name.

VLADIMIR TUMAEV
Born in 1953 in Sevastopol. Graduated from VGIK (1983, class of M.Khutsiev). In 1981 he made his debut short “Idiot” (with L.Tumaeva). His first full-length film “Moon Dogs” (1995, with L.Tumaeva) was premiered at the Berlin IFF. He teaches at VGIK and at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors. Winner of national and international film festivals, TEFI and Nika awards. His filmography includes “Marlen” (2003, doc., with L.Tumaeva), “Demoted” (2009, TV), “Chinese Grandmother” (2010), “Snow is Falling...” (2012), etc.
