A young man dies in an accident. The perpetrator is taken into police custody, where he commits suicide, tormented by remorse. His father, an old villager, is left alone. In an attempt to forget everything he brings an orphan into his house. The boy becomes like a son to him. The old man tries to change the boy, to teach him his trade of making unique caskets. The old man finds the meaning of life in this boy and gradually calms down. In contrast to him the father of the dead young man could not forgive and find reconciliation. He seethes with hatred when he sees that the old man can still find joy in life. Soon the father of the murdered man understands that there is only one way out for him – to take revenge for his son’s death.

DMITRY DAVYDOV
Born in the village of Amga, Sakha Republic (Yakutia). Graduated from the pedagogical institute as an elementary school teacher. For 13 years he worked at school as a teacher, psychologist, youth movement organizer, director. He founded a youth club, where he started filming videos and amateur shorts. His interest in cinema grew and he decided to take it up professionally. He financed the movie “The Bonfire” on his own without any state support. It premiered in 2016 at the Pusan IFF in South Korea. The film was screened at many national and international film festivals and won several awards.
