The announcement of the winners of short films competition

On June 1, at the "Night of short meter" in Chita, the winners of the competition of short films were announced and the best works were shown. This year, the competition for short films for the first time expanded geography and became international, in addition to the inhabitants of the Zabaikals

352 applications from all around the world were sent to the contest of short films, most of all (more than 250 applications) were sent from Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union.

Selection of the best films was carried out by the program director of the film festival, film critic, candidate of art criticism, associate professor of VGIK them. S.A. Gerasimova and the head of the department of film distribution company "Nevafilm" film critic Maria Bezenkova.

The winners were:

• in the nomination "Best Short Film Filmed in Zabaikalsky Territory" - «Skysurfer», directed by Nikita Abramov;
• in the nomination "Best Short Documentary" - "Superfluous People", directed by Ruben Ghazaryan, Kazakhstan;
• in the nomination "Best Short Art Film" - "Bakyt", directed by Meerim Dogdurbekova, Kyrgyzstan.

The best works of the contest the guests of the Festival saw on the Decembrists Square in the framework of the event "The Night of the Short Meter". Films were presented by Maria Bezenkova and film critic, editor responsible for the selection of short films for Russian TV channels Ruslan Abashin.
