October 1941. Thousands of the German troops come to Kalinin (now Tver) to seize it and open a direct way to Moscow. Only two thousand people without tanks and artillery protect the city. The trains of the h infantry division that will soon go through Kalinin station are the only hope to delay the enemy. But diversionists intend to make everything that it does not happen. The head of the Kalinin garrison, doing his best to maintain order and tranquility, himself falls under suspicion of involvement in the enemy’s subversive group.
