In conditions of permafrost trophy hunters are searching for priceless treasures of the black market – tusks of prehistoric mammoths, on distant islands at northern latitudes. One of such expeditions discovers well preserved remains of an ancient animal. This astonishing discovery has aroused interest in the biotechnological world. Fragments of the animal with live cells are taken to a cloning laboratory in South Korea. Its ambitious leader, Hwang Woo Suk, decides to revive the mammoths to life and make a revolution in science and fates of the mankind.

Born in 1959 in Schoenwerd, Switzerland. He studied at the faculty of journalism at the University of Fribourg. Documentary film director, producer. His film “Military Photographer” (2001) was nominated for Oscar and won many prizes. Lectures at the University of St. Gallen. President of the Swiss Film Academy. His filmography includes “Ricardo, Miriam and Fidel” (1997), “The Giant Buddhas” (2005), “Space Tourists” (2009), “Sleepless in New York” (2014), etc.
MAXIM ARBUGAEV
Born in 1991 in Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha, Russia. He went into hockey, was a High League player. In 2012, while on a film expedition for the National Geographic channel project, he first picked up a camera. Then he entered VGIK, class of Sergey Miroshnichenko. In the first year he made the film “The Hunters”, then shown at the documentary film festival Visions du Réel in Swiss Nyon. There he got acquainted with Christian Frei.
